Current Academic projects
My research generally falls into three main areas: Knowledge & Expertise, Collaboration & Interdisciplinary, and Participatory Governance & Social Innovation.
First, I'm interested in the way knowledge is produced, distributed, used, and understood among different communities. At CSPO, I'm part of the Knowledge Systems Analysis project. I also investigate this through concepts like Interactional Expertise, which is where much of my recent research and publishing has been focused.
Second, I'm fascinated by the way people and groups of people work together. In particular, I'm curious how we can better collaborate in complex, interdisciplinary problem solving in science and social systems alike. To this end, I'm becoming more involved in the STIR (Socio-Technical Integration Research) program here at CSPO.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, I care about turning this research into action - how can we better share knowledge, create inclusive political processes, and collaborate across communities in Canada & internationally. This is what keeps me up and gets me out of the bed in the morning.
